Most "how to earn online" posts are written by people who have never waited for a payout. This one is written by the people who send them. Here is what a realistic first three months as a Vanfleek affiliate look like in 2026, with the maths shown, the slow parts admitted, and the shortcuts that actually work.
First, the maths, so you know what you are aiming at
Commission is a percentage of the product price, set per category. Five percent is the standard rate; some categories are set higher. Delivery fees are not commissionable. So:
- A ₦165,000 phone at 5% pays ₦8,250.
- A ₦28,000 pair of earbuds at 5% pays ₦1,400.
- A ₦6,500 charger at 5% pays ₦325.
Two things follow from that. First, one phone sale is worth more than twenty chargers, so your time is best spent on the products people save up for. Second, you do not need a huge audience. Ten phone sales a month is ₦82,500, and ten sales from a WhatsApp list of 300 people who trust you is very achievable. A million followers who do not trust you is not.
What is different in 2026
If you looked at the programme last year, four things have changed.
- Materials are done for you. The portal's Materials page has product pictures, captions and short videos for current stock, with your link already inside the caption. Copy, paste, post.
- Today's Deals. The store runs daily picks at a marked-down price. A deal link with a real deadline converts far better than a normal product page, and it gives you a reason to post every day without sounding like a billboard.
- You can request products. If your audience keeps asking for something we do not stock, send it from the portal under Suggest products. When we add it you get an email, and you are first to promote it.
- Clear money timeline. Every sale in your dashboard shows its stage: paid, delivered, hold ends on a date, available. No guessing.
Month one: get approved and make your first two sales
Week 1. Apply at affiliate.vanfleek.com. The form asks where you will promote and for one to four of your own social accounts. Be specific. "I run a 400-member WhatsApp group for NYSC members in Benin and a TikTok about budget phones" gets approved faster than "social media". Follow the Vanfleek pages and join the affiliate WhatsApp group when asked; the team checks, and it is also where the deal alerts land first.
Week 2. Make one link, not ten. Pick the product your audience has already asked you about. Most new affiliates do best with a mid-range phone under ₦200,000 or a popular accessory like a power bank or earbuds. Post it with a personal line about why you would buy it, and the price. Price in the post, always. Nigerians do not click to find out.
Weeks 3 and 4. Your first payout needs two settled sales. "Settled" means delivered and past the return window. This is the slow part and there is no way round it, so use the time to add your bank details in the portal (payouts are by bank transfer) and to finish the requirements form if the banner is still showing. By the end of the month you want two sales in the pipeline, even if the money is still on hold.
Month two: build a rhythm
This is where most people quit, because month one paid little. Month two is about posting on a schedule so that the 30-day cookie starts working for you. Someone who clicked on the 3rd and buys on the 28th is still your sale, but only if they clicked.
- One deal post a day from Today's Deals, with your link. Thirty seconds of work.
- One real recommendation a week. A product you have used or researched properly, with pros and one honest con. The con is what makes people trust the pros.
- Answer questions in public. When someone asks "which phone for ₦150k?" in a group, answer properly, then add your link. Helping first is the whole trick.
Watch the portal's link stats. If a link has 200 clicks and no sales, the product or the price is wrong for that audience; change the product, not the caption.
Month three: scale what worked
By now you know which product and which channel brought the sales. Do more of that and less of everything else. Three ways affiliates grow from here:
- Bundles and gift cards. Around birthdays, Valentine's, Sallah and Christmas, gift cards sell to people who do not want to choose. Food packages sell to people buying for family. Both are in the catalogue.
- Bring people in. If you are a student, the Campus Ambassador programme pays a stipend and bonuses on top of commission for recruiting affiliates and hitting a sales target on your campus. There is a separate guide to it on this blog.
- Ask for what is missing. Use Suggest products. The affiliates who do this end up with a catalogue shaped around their own audience.
The rules that bite if you ignore them
- Commission is on the product price only. Delivery fees, airtime and store-credit top-ups are not commissionable.
- A refunded or cancelled order earns nothing. If it was already counted, it is reversed.
- Links that sit with no clicks and no sales for 60 days put the account on pause. One tap in the portal reactivates it, but it is a sign the rhythm broke.
- Do not run paid ads on the Vanfleek brand name, and do not post your link as a fake customer review. Both get the account closed.
A realistic picture
A part-time affiliate with a trusted WhatsApp list and one social channel typically sees a handful of sales in month one, ten to twenty in month three, and their first bank transfer in the second month. People who post daily deals and answer questions in groups do better than people with large but passive followings. If you want a number to aim at: ten phone-level sales a month is a real target for one person, and it pays more than many salaries.
